The headline act on Suzuki's stand at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year is now starring at this week's Australian International Motor Show: say hello to the Swift S-Concept.

Based on the current all-new Swift hatch, the Swift S Concept offers a glimpse at what we might see if Suzuki elects to bring a new Swift Sport to market - although that big rear wing might not make the production cut.

Power for the concept is provided by a 1.6 litre four-cylinder engine, mated to a six-speed manual transmission. Output has not been revealed, although it is likely a version of the 92kW four-cylinder M16A engine used in the current Swift Sport.

The considerably less-lary Australian-delivered 2011 Swift draws power from a new 1.4 litre engine, delivering 70kW and 130Nm of torque.

On the styling front - which has largely been the focus for this concept - the S-Concept gets a new front bumper, side skirts, brake ducts behind the front wheels and a new rear bumper with brake ducts, a diffuser and a dual-exhaust setup.

The concept's external tweaks are rounded out with a big roof-mounted wing and 18-inch wheels in front of a performance braking package.

The theme continus inside with a more performance-styled steering wheel, Recaro sports seats and a contrasting black and yellow trim with yellow stitching.

Whether we'll see a new Swift Sport remains to be seen. Suzuki describes the S-Concept as a design study only, and has offered little in the way of what the concept holds for a future model.
