Mazda's local CX-9 line-up gets a boost this week with the addition of two new front-wheel-drive (FWD) variants and sharp new pricing.
Starting with the Classic, now available in front-wheel-drive only, the price of entry into the CX-9 range has fallen to $44,425 - a saving of $5590 over its all-wheel-drive (AWD) predecessor.
Standard features for the Classic includes 18-inch alloy wheels, automatic headlights, cruise control, three-zone climate control, power windows and mirrors, and a leather-trimmed steering wheel and gear shift knob.
The mid-range Luxury model is now also available in FWD form, priced at $51,725 - $4500 less than the $56,225 CX-9 Luxury AWD.
Standard features for the Luxury models include 20-inch alloy wheels, a power-sliding and tilt glass sunroof, heated power mirrors with three-position memory and reverse tilt-down function, power adjustable leather seats with three-position memory and a premium 10-speaker Bose audio system.
A Satellite Navigation pack is also available for the Luxury models, increasing prices to $54,325 for the FWD and $59,233 (including Luxury Car Tax) for the AWD.
The Sat Nav pack adds a fully integrated seven-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth hands-free calling and audio streaming.
All CX-9s continue to be powered by a 3.7 litre V6 engine mated to a 6-speed Activematic transmission. Power and torque figures remain unchanged at 204kW and 367Nm respectively.
FWD models offer fuel consumption figures of 11.0 l/100km, while the fuel efficiency of AWD models has improved to 11.2 1/100km - down from 11.3 l/100km.
