All-wheel-drive, 1390kg and 375kW. Zero to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds, 200km/h in 10.9 seconds, and a top speed of 250km/h.

Those are the basics, but the car is not one that would come to mind if you were told to take a guess: Audi's A1 Clubsport Quattro concept, developed specially for this week's Wörthersee Tour in Germany.

Built with a rally fantasy as its inspiration, the A1 Clubsport Quattro is powered by a mental-as-anything version of Audi's 2.5 litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine, usually found in the high-performance TT RS and RS3 Sportback.

In standard trim, the engine produces 250kW and 450Nm of torque. Thanks to a tuned turbocharger, intercooler, induction tract and exhaust, the turbo engine gives the A1 a warranty-voiding 503hp, in the old numbers.

The 2.5 litre engine gets power to each corner through a TT RS-donated six-speed manual transmission, along with Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Braking is a greater-than-usual concern for a project of this sort, and so the A1 Clubsport Quattro is fitted with carbon fibre-ceramic discs and massive six-piston calipers at the front, along with steel discs out back.

Shoehorned under 60mm widened arches are custom-made 19-inch light alloy wheels, finished in the same Glacier White paint job given to the A1's body - except for the roof, which is made of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer.

Other external features include RS-inspired bumpers, along with a vented bonnet, rally-inspired side exhausts, a monstrous rear wing and custom side mirrors.

Don't expect to see the A1 Clubsport Quattro on the road, but with a S1 performance variant reportedly in development, this might be your first glimpse of what's to come.

Maybe.
