The most recent contender to enter the V8’s motor racing calendar in Australia is Aussie Racing Cars (ARC). This year, 2011, is set to be the series biggest year yet.
Since the category was invited by the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) to be nationally recognised as a fully sanctioned national racing category and series in 2002, the sport has continued to generate public support with attendance doubling over the past decade.
Aussie Racing Cars is also building momentum internationally for its high-energy action, despite being three-quarter scale of a V8 Supercar.
Arguably the Twenty20 of car racing, the small size and light weight of an Aussie Racing Car enables thrilling four-wide braking, overtaking and quick acceleration to speeds in excess of 200km/h.
All cars, custom-built in Australia, are pure-bred race car design and powered by a 1.2 litre, 125bhp, twin-cam, 16-valve engine capable of revving to 11500rpm. There are five different body styles - the Toyota Aurion, AU Falcon, VY Commodore, 1940 Ford Coupe, and FJ Holden.
With Hayley Swanson (glamour model and driver for the category) as the face of the series and with naming rights sponsor FW1 on board (a waterless car cleaning product range) supporting the category, Aussie Racing Cars Founder and Director Phil Ward is confident that support will continue to grow.

The 2011 Aussie Racing Cars FW1 Super Series schedule is jam-packed with Winton set from 20th- 22nd May and Queensland Raceway from 19th - 21st August.
