Fresh from its racing debut at this year's Australian F1 Grand Prix, the Lexus CT 200h will attack the hallowed Nurburgring in Germany.

While the cars used in the F1 Celebrity Challenge were lightly modified versions of the standard car, the CT 200h has been worked over for its assault on this year's VLN Langstreckenmeisterschaft Nürburgring.

To build its CT 200h race car, Lexus has teamed with longtime partner Gazoo Racing - the same group that outfitted the Lexus LFA supercar for a run at the Nurburgring 24 Hour.

The hybrid's 1.8 litre petrol engine has been swapped for the 2.4 litre that features in the US-market HS 250h. With the petrol-electric hybrid system otherwise unchanged, power has increased from 100kW to 139kW.

Piloted by Kumi Sato, Masahiko Kageyama and Minoru Takaki, the Gazoo Racing CT has already had a six-hour race outing at the Nurburgring this weekend, finishing 108th in a field of 127 competing for the Adenauer ADAC Rundstrecken-Trophy.
