First it hit the 911 Carerra Coupe and Cabriolet, and then came the Boxster. Now, Porsche's Black Edition line-up has grown to include the Boxster's hardtop sibling - the Cayman S.
Unlike the 987 examples of the Boxster Black Edition available in Australia, the special Cayman S will be limited to just 500 units worldwide.
Upgrades for the Cayman S Black Edition mirror those made to the Boxster, with power increased 7kW to 243kW. Torque remains unchanged at 370Nm, at 4750rpm.
The 0-100km/h sprint is covered in 5.1 seconds for the six-speed manual transmission, 5.0 seconds for the seven-speed PDK transmission - and 4.8 seconds with the optional Sport Chrono package's launch control feature.
Top speed is listed at 279km/h.
Like the Boxster, the Cayman S Black Edition gets 19-inch Boxster Spyder wheels in black - an inch taller than the Cayman's standard wheels, and half an inch wider than the regular optional 19-inch wheels.
The special Cayman S Black Edition also gets Bi-Xenon headlights, dynamic cornering lights, automatic anti-dazzle and exterior mirrors with integrated rain sensor.
The Porsche crest is featured on the seat headrests, and a Porsche Sport Design steering wheel is also standard.
Pricing and Availability
With deliveries set to begin from September, the Cayman S Black Edition is priced at $147,500 (plus on-road costs).
