A year on from its impressive sub-10 minute lap of the famed Nurburgring, the MINI E electric vehicle has lost its title as the quickest EV to manage the feat.
Say hello to the new electric king of the 'ring: the Peugeot EX1 concept, built as part of Peugeot's 200th anniversary celebrations.
Driven by two electric motors producing a total of 250kW and 250Nm - along with an all-wheel-drive layout - the EX1 lapped the 20.8km Nurburgring course in 9 minutes and 1.338 seconds, besting the MINI E by nearly a full minute.
To MINI's credit however, the MINI E was developed as a commuter car, its electric motor producing 150kW and 220Nm of torque. In contrast, the Peugeot EX1 is a 'purpose built' concept unlikely to make a production debut in its current form.
