Following the release of a single teaser image last week, Subaru has today offered the latest hint for its new Impreza in the form of the XV Crossover Concept.

Following in the footsteps of the current and previous-generation high-riding Impreza variants, this new concept will likely find its way to production as the next Impreza XV.

"XV Concept clearly flags Subaru’s intentions to capture even more of the crossover market in the future and this stunning new design no doubt provides some clues as to what we may expect," Subaru Australia Managing Director Nick Senior said.

"Sub-Compact SUVs are a growing opportunity and XV Concept is the type of vehicle that will attract even more customers."

The face of the XV crossover concept wears Subaru's hexagonal grille design, along with a new 'hawk-eye' headlight design.

Among the concept's XV-specific features are an unpainted black lower bumper and black wheel arch guards, along with metallic roof rails.

Although difficult to see in these images, Subaru says the XV Crossover concept features a continuous glass sheet along its roof.

Subaru's new third-generation 2.0 litre boxer-engine (the 2.5 litre version is already featured in the updated 2011 Forester) drives the XV concept, sending power through the company's symmetical All-Wheel-Drive system.

A production debut for the XV has yet to be confirmed, although it is likely that it at least offers a strong hint at the styling of the next-generation Impreza Hatch.
