In an inspiring show of camaraderie and sportsmanship, a number of Australian and New Zealand V8 Supercar drivers have come together in support of fellow driver and cancer sufferer, Jason Richards.

Richards was diagnosed with Adrenocortical Carcinoma (ACC) in November last year, a rare and aggressive form of cancer, and is currently undertaking treatment in Australia. He will soon head to the United States for specialised treatment.

Launched this week, Bid4Jase.com is the creation of V8SC veterans Greg Murphy, Garth Tander and Paul Dumbrell. The trio's goal is to auction off a range of personal items donated by the drivers, their teams, sponsors, media partners and supporters.

The website has been created as a public fundraising effort to support Jason Richards, his wife Charlottle and their two young children, providing funds towards treatment and other essential care.

"We might be fierce competitors out on the track but off the track we are a bunch of like-minded, community driven people who really care for our own," Greg Murphy said.

"Jason Richards is a mate to each and every one of us here in pit lane and as usual he’s going at a million miles an hour – this time to beat cancer."

Carmaker and V8SC partner Holden has come to the party, offering a new Holden Cruze Series II for auction. The Cruze will join more than 200 items available at Bid4Jase.com over the next month.

“Jason is a wonderful ambassador for GM Holden on both sides of the Tasman and he epitomises everything that our company stands for," Holden Chairman and MD Mike Devereux said.

"Like everyone, we want to help him, Charlotte and his family through his treatment and didn’t hesitate in offering a Holden Cruze for auction by bid4jase.com. We congratulate the drivers on their initiative and encourage everyone to get behind it and help Jason.”

Some of the auction Items:

  • Holden Cruze Series II inclusive of on road costs
  • Trip for two to the Armor All Gold Coast 600 including airfares, corporate hospitality and more
  • Guitar signed by members of Good Charlotte
  • Place in the Porsche driver training program
  • 40” Toshiba television
  • Greg Murphy driving suit from 2005 Bathurst – as worn in the Murph v Ambrose race shunt
