With Mazda's Australian-developed 2012 BT-50 drawing closer to its market debut, the Japanese carmaker has released a video showing the new model under test.

In this latest clip, the new BT-50 is shown on a dynamometer, simulating real-world conditions for prolonged periods.

Among the simulated scenarios are steep gradients, heavy towing loads, very high speeds and the engine being run constantly at maximum torque and power.

"Once this testing is complete, inspections are carried out on all critical components to ensure they are still within specification and performing as expected," Mazda Australia's Engineering and Compliance Manager, Wayne Watson said.

Exact technical details for the new BT-50 remain a tightly-held secret, but Mazda's new Sky-D diesel engine is expected to figure among the new model's powertrains.

Mazda also recently confirmed that Dynamic Stability Control will be fitted as standard equipment for the new BT-50 - a feature which will be a Federal Government requirement by the time the ute hits the market.

With production scheduled to start in June 2011, bank on a late third quarter, early fourth-quarter local launch.
