2012 FORD RANGER WILDTRAK

Ford has pulled back the sheets on the flagship model in its all-new Australian-developed Ranger line-up in Geneva today, with the unveiling of the 2012 Ford Ranger Wildtrak.

Like its predecessor, the new Wildtrack gains a number of styling and interior enhancements over regular Ranger models, including 18-inch wheels, a roof-rack and a 'sports hoop' over the rear cargo area.

Inside, the Wildtrak gets bolstered seats trimmed in leather and fabric with ventilated mesh sections, along with distinctive orange stitching. There is also a 'hydrographic' finish for the centre console, while the radio housing gets a faux carbon-fibre look.

"Wildtrak's aggressive look and bold new graphics are a perfect fit for those who appreciate a sporty and more expressive image. It will look fantastic transporting the latest quad bike or jet ski for their weekend getaways," Craig Metros, Chief Designer of the all-new Ranger said.

Although Australian specifications have yet to be revealed, European buyers will be able to choose from the two diesel engines already revealed for the Ranger: a 2.2 litre four-cylinder diesel producing 110kW and 375Nm of torque, or a 3.2 litre five-cylinder diesel making 147kW and 470Nm of torque.

The 2012 Ranger Wildtrak features Bluetooth audio streaming, along with USB and iPod connectivity. Other features include voice control over the radio, CD, iPod, USB, air-conditioning and phone and the software recognises English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Turkish. It also offers a five-inch colour screen with satellite navigation.

Australia

Along with the regular Range line-up, the Wildtrak is expected to make its Australian debut later this year.

Speaking with TMR today, Ford Australia's Neil McDonald said that with the current Wildtrak still on sale, it's a case of "watch this space" for the new model.

Good luck. With what's around you can bet there already sold. I now a bloke pick his up and he had it on order several months ago. And he was told that the dealer had more coming but they where all sold and they had no more rangers (unsold) till next year. I think Ford need to boost production ASAP.
