Development of MINI's new dedicated Roadster is clearly nearing completion; these new spy photos reveal the new model almost entirely without camouflage.

Although some styling elements may change before the production model is unveiled, the car shown under test here features a slightly taller windscreen than the concept - likely catering to rollover protection requirements.

The profile of the production car remains unchanged, with the same high belt line as the Roadster concept. The same tail-lights are shown too, while the front and rear bumpers look more in-line with MINI's other offerings - at least for now.

The Roadster is expected to utilise the 126kW 1.6 litre turbocharged engine found in the Cooper S instead of the John Cooper Works-sourced unit of the Coupe Concept.

MINI's latest model is expected to make its international debut around the middle of this year.

Australia

Speaking with TMR, MINI Australia's Piers Scott confirmed that while details will be finalised closer to its unveiling, the MINI Coupe is scheduled for an Australian debut in the fourth quarter of 2011.
