The van marketplace is a rough and tumble world where the winner is often the one that packs the most…or at least allows the most to be packed. Despite popular misconceptions bigger is truly better and it is into this market that Citroën will be releasing their new ‘Berlingo and a bit’.

Citroën has just released the first pictures of their upsized load lugger, the long body version of the new Citroën Berlingo van. For van aficionados, the important point to mention here is that the interior volume of the new Berlingo has increased from 3.3 to 3.7 cubic metres and up to 4.1 cubic metres with the folding front passenger seat provided by the unique Citroën Extenso® cabin. Which simply means more room for cargo and that’s enough to put a smile on any van driver’s dial.

Based on the highly successful Citroen C4 Picasso, Citroen claim that the Berlingo further extends their reputation for building quality, technically advanced commercial vehicles that work hard and keep costs low.

Citroen Australia plans to launch the new Berlingo in Australia towards the end of the year with the long body version providing a bridge between the normal Berlingo and the newly launched Citroen Dispatch van.

Australian prices and specification will be announced when the new model goes on sale.

This thing looks pretty good! should sell well.

Last Friday I took delivery of a new Citroen Berlingo (New) van in fire engine red, and have done over 1,000 klms on the weekend. The new van is excellent, rides well on the road and returns 1,000 klms to the tank. This weekend I am driving it to Sydney and back. I believe it is the only new Citroen Berlingo van in the L2 model (10 inches longer) on the road in Australia. I previously had a C4 coupe but this one I can sleep in.
