2011 Nissan Navara ST-X 550 And Pathfinder Ti 550 Coming In January

Just a few months on from the local launch of the updated 2010 Nissan Pathfinder, Nissan has today announced both the Pathfinder and its ute sibling the Navara will get its V9X 3.0 litre V6 turbo-diesel engine in January.

Producing 170kW and a generous 550Nm of torque between 1750 and 2500rpm, the Renault-Nissan developed diesel engine made its European-market debut in the Pathfinder and Navara earlier this year.

"This exceptional engine - and in particular its wall of torque - sets new standards for the class, producing an iconic flagship model for both Navara and Pathfinder with unbeatable performance and refinement,” Nissan Australia CEO Dan Thompson said.

“With the Navara we have a pinnacle dual-cab ute that is untouchable in terms of power and outright torque, while the Pathfinder now has a premium, refined engine that is the envy of the class."

“The Navara is one of the cornerstones of the Nissan range in Australia and a major force in the dual cab 4x4 market. It is one of Nissan Australia’s cornerstone products aimed at giving us No.1 importer status in the medium term,” Mr Thompson said.

The new engine, paired with a seven-speed automatic transmission, will be available in new range-topping models, the 2011 Navara ST-X 550 and the Pathfinder Ti 550.

On the outside, the new Pathfinder Ti 550 adds privacy glass, auto headlights, sunroof wind deflector, rain-sensing wipers, smoked bonnet protector, side moulding and V6 badges, rear fog lamps and body coloured heated door mirrors.

Inside, an upgraded DVD player features additional functionality, a nine-speaker Bose audio system and an anti-theft alarm.

For the Nissan Navara ST-X 550, the additional equipment list includes a tub liner, satin-black sportsbar with LED high-level brake light, a hard tonneau cover with remote central locking, smoked bonnet protector, front fog lights, headlamp washers, privacy glass, roof rails and V6 badges.

Pricing and Availability

The Nissan Navara ST-X 550 will retail for $60,990 and the Pathfinder Ti 550 will retail for $75,990 when they both go on sale in January.

Well, it looks like Nissan has just priced them selves out of the market. $61k for a ute WTF.

Yes they needed a V6, but so does the Patrol i can buy 2 D22's for that! Or even a ranger with a *** load of change. Yes its a V6, yes it has a heap of power, but most people wont even use that amount of power.

Lets hope the drive train can handle the torque (i mean the dual mass flywheel mostly)

Its got some balls this thing, its a shame the Nissan arnt going to wake up and put this motor in a Patrol any time soon. A Patrol tray back with this engine will kill that crap Toyota V8. Sales would surly hurt toyota then.
