20 YEARS OF MALOO R8

Following the launch of its ClubSport stablemate back in June, HSV has today announced the Limited Edition 20 Years Of Maloo R8 to celebrate the 20th birthday of HSV's take on the uniquely Australian phenomenon that is the ute.

Launched in honour of its 1990 debut at the Sydney Motor Show, the '20 Years Of Maloo R8' is limited to 100 units.

Features include HSV's 'Vector E-vents' and bonnet scoops, along with the GTS' 20-inch wheels and HSV's bi-model exhaust system.

HSV's EDI system, debuting in the WM3 HSV Grange, also features in the '20 Years of Maloo R8', giving drivers real-time access to vehicle dynamics and performance data.

Other features of the EDI system include Side Blind Zone Alert and rear park-assist with a reversing camera, along with satellite navigation.

Prices for the 20 Years of Maloo R8 will begin at $67,900 (Recommended Retail Price) for the manual.

The '20 Years of Maloo R8' is due to make its first public showing at the Deni Ute Muster in early October, and will begin arriving in showrooms around the same time.

I thought it wasn't possible to make the ugliest car on Australian roads uglier.... Guess I underestimated HSV. That thing fell out of the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down.

Whilst even I will admit that the current range of HSV's aren't what that attractive.. there si no wat that they're the UGLIEST cars on the road.. Skoda would be a serious contender for that title as would Subaru Maserati Chrysler Ssangyong Great Wall; Citroen Renault and even Nissan.

Not only that but "Performance Muscle Cars" like this are meant to look strong powerful and intimidating it also helps if they are rather distinctive.. and there's no doubt the HSVs do that - I mean you wouldn't want to spend $80k+ on a sports sedan which looks the same as a $20K poverty pack run around would you?

Strong & Powerfull? this HSV (and the ute) is just tacky overkill. Some of the best muscle cars are the preyty simple - Mustang, Cobra, Camaro (etc)

Nice to see HSV have employed Optimus Prime as head designer!
The only people who need this crap are rich mining bogans so they can tow their lime green jet ski's on their way to picking up another bright red Quad bike!!

No the miners who kept the country moving have half a brain and actually know how to use money - the mining bogans are the ones who splurge on stupid crap like 4 jet ski's, 6 quad bikes and a lime green FPV!

MRC isn't available on utes. That's why the second pic is of a sedan.

Maybe However; using your logic - what's the point of 4x4s.. as less than 10% of them ever go off road?

Spot on. They're too delicate to put anything serious in them (work gear etc). Just another vehicle for cashed upped bogans to piss the cops off.

They earn the money themselves so they have the right to spend that money any way they wish.

Ugly can be tasteful and there are are lots of euro cars that fall into that segment.
But this is just plain crass.Like a Madam with a front tooth missing.Or a grown up dressed as a Trekie.
You know its wrong and you feel a bit disturbed especially if you are about to handover your hard earned.
But your mates say don't be a *** and listen to that V8.
So you do and you think you are a hero but many think you are posing clown with too much money and bad taste.
Each to their own but not for me.
