A minute's silence please.

Trevor Wilkinson, the man who started sports car company TVR, has died in Minorca, Spain on Friday at the age of 85 after battling serious illness.

Wilkinson started TVR - a name which was simply an abbreviated form of his own, TreVoR - in 1947, building lightweight tube-framed specials. After achieving much success with the Grantura and V8 Griffith, Wilkinson then sold the company and started up his own engineering business in 1965. Although he left the company long ago, Wilkinson's drive and passion for uncompromising sports cars and quality engineering endured at TVR to the present day. TVR have never made a car with more than two doors, and I have no doubt that that's exactly how Trevor Wilkinson wanted it to be. Rest In Peace, Mr Wilkinson.

RIP Trevor. Your company made some really cool cars.

They weren't reliable, and they were a danger to drive, but that just adds to the fun.
