2011 volkswagen polo sedan russian market only no australia launch 02

Volkswagen has unveiled the new 2011 Volkswagen Polo Sedan in Russia this week. Although the Polo variant has been developed specifically for the sedan-centric Russian market, reports suggest a wider launch could be on the cards for the left-hand-drive European and North American markets.

Speaking with TMR today, Volkswagen Australia's Karl Gehling confirmed that for at least so long as there is no right-hand-drive model, the Polo sedan will not be making its way to Australia.

The Polo sedan will be offered with Volkswagen's new 78kW 1.6 litre 'Otto' petrol engine, paired with either a five-speed manual transmission or a six-speed tiptronic automatic transmission (not the dual-clutch DSG transmission).

Three equipment and trim grades will be offered: Trendline, Comfortline and the range-topping Highline grade, featuring side airbags and ESP as standard.

No other details of the Russian market Polo sedan have been released, but for more details on the recently-launched Australian-delivered Polo, click here.
