FOLLOWING SPY photos published earlier this month, revealing its i45-inspired styling, the 2011 Hyundai Accent has had its official unveiling at the Beijing Auto Show this week.

Continuing Hyundai's 'Fluidic Sculpture' design language, the new Accent measures 4340mm long and 1700mm wide, with a 2570mm wheelbase, giving it similar dimensions to the Toyota Corolla sedan.

Engine options for the Chinese market will include a 1.4 litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 80kW and 135Nm of torque at 5000rpm. The 1.4 litre engine will be offered with both a five-speed manual transmission or Hyundai's older four-speed automatic transmission.

A larger 1.6 litre petrol engine will also be offered, although with 90kW and 155Nm of torque, the gains are minimal. The 1.6 litre engine will be offered with the four-speed automatic transmission only.

Hyundai has yet to reveal full details for the new Accent, but it has confirmed a global launch will begin early next year. It is unclear whether Australia will see the new Accent - although as a sedan alternative to the hatch and wagon i30 range, it has potential for a local release.
