2011 Hyundai Accent Spied Unmasked In Korea

Mike Stevens | Apr 19, 2010

HYUNDAI IS CLEARLY POWERING ahead with its full-line makeover, with recent spy photos revealing the Tiburon-replacing Veloster, the next generation Elantra and the European-market HED-5 MPV.

Two new spy photos this week join an earlier shot of an unmasked 2011 Hyundai Accent (below) snapped by an enthusiast in Korea. With development apparently complete, the launch of the new model - its styling inspired by the new Sonata and the upcoming Elantra - must not be far away.

Little is known about the new Accent at this stage, but reports in the US suggest the new light sedan is built on the same platform as the i20 hatch, due for an Australian launch this year.

Power is likely to be supplied by Hyundai's new 1.6 litre in-line four-cylinder. The i20 is currently powered by engines ranging in capacity from 1.2 litres to 1.6 litres.

Whether the new Accent will make its way to Australia will likely depend on the success of the i20 hatch.

"Inspired by"? Looks practically the same as the new Sonata. I was expecting better from Hyundai.

Looking like a Honda City from where I am sitting

If Hyundai are looking to continue success, then copying Honda might not be a bad idea

It's called a family face dude. Do you expect more of Volkswagen? 'Cause all their cars look the same now. What about Mazda?

But this looks like a carbon copy. The Mazda's and VW's although look rather similar don't look exactly the same. This on the other hand, looks exactly the same as the Sonata, from the front at least. There's a difference.

this is nothing special really, the design doesn't excite me like other small cars
    it just looks try-hard

Hyundai's theme seems to be competing with Japan sharpness where sister Kia is more Euro-inspired round lines.

Both very effective and mostly good looking.

Doesn't look anyhing like a Honda city. Looks like a whole new design direction to me.
