KOENIGSEGG HAS RELEASED a new video this week for its upcoming 2011 Koenigsegg Agera, offering a new look at the Swedish supercar and a sample of its engine note.

Although the Swedish supercarmaker describes the Agera as a new beast, its styling reveals its link to the barnstorming Koenigsegg CCX - albeit with a number of significant updates inside and out.

Among the external updates are restyled LED-edged headlights, a new front bumper and new tail lights. Inside, a new multi-cluster and upgraded infotainment display contribute to the Agera's futuristic look. New lighting technology features throughout the cabin, using 'invisible nanotubes' to illuminate buttons in the dash and centre console.

Along with the carbon-fibre, kevlar and aluminium honeycomb body, the centre console and transmission tunnel are also crafted from carbon-fibre.

Power for the Agera is drawn from the same 4.7 litre V8 that beats in the heart of the CCX, but revised airflow and twin-turbo boosting sees output increased to 680kW and 1100Nm of torque. Weighing in at just 1284kg, the Agera will rocket to 100km/h in 3.1 seconds.

The Agera also features an adjustable ABS system, along with 392x36mm and 380x34mm ventilated and drilled ceramic discs. The new traction control system brings an 'auto adapt' function for different road conditions and driving styles.

Koenigsegg plans to offer the Agera alongside its CCX and CCXR models, building around 15 to 20 units each year.
