HOT ON THE HEELS of yesterday's Pininfarina Alfa Romeo Spider sketch, Bertone has released artwork for its own upcoming Alfa concept.

Along with Pininfarina and ItalDesign, Bertone was recently commissioned by Alfa to develop three new concepts to revitalise the Italian carmaker's future line-up. The new models are destined to replace the ageing 159.

Technical details for the concept have yet to be revealed - if any exist - but it is clear from this concept that Bertone aims evolve the familiar Alfa face with a more futuristic take on its classic style.

The concept, somewhat more subtle than Bertone's recent Mantide supercar, is the company's first new design since Fiat bought the company last year.

The move to develop a successor to the 159 - which will include a coupe, convertible and sedan - coincides with Alfa Romeo’s centenary celebrations, due to take place later this year.
