2008 Mazda 6 MPS spy photos

Photos of a heavily disguised 2008 Mazda 6 MPS have surfaced on the internet thanks to Auto Express. Auto Express claim that this is the MPS as there are tell-tale features such as twin exhausts, large alloy wheels a pronounced bulge on the bonnet and what appears to be an intercooler behind the central vent in the front spoiler.

Call me a cynic but I am not 100% convinced. These photos could easily be the regular Mazda 6 seen in earlier spy shots. The intercooler could simply be the air-conditioning condenser and the bonnet bulge is being accentuated by air being forced up under the bra/disguise as the front is open and not air-tight. But then again…

Assuming that this is the Mazda 6 MPS then the main points to note are that it continues to use AWD and shares its platform and running gear with the latest-generation Ford Mondeo.

Mazda is believed to be upgrading interior materials to improve cabin quality and feel. The standard Mazda 6 will include a wagon (estate) variant and the engine line-up will include 1.8, 2.0 and 2.5-litre petrol engines as well as a diesel unit, no doubt for the European market although it would be nice to see it come to Australia…

Expect the new generation Mazda 6 to make its first official appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year with Australian Mazda dealers expected to receive their first allocation in 2008.

I think your right, this looks like the standard Mazda 6 to me. Seems to sit too high for the MPS. Great photos though, you can see some of the lines down the side and get an idea at least of the new look.

That is not a mazda 6 mps!! all mazda 6’s have twin exhaust and the alloys on that car are from a “classic” model there the morons who made up this rumour have no clue!!
