German tuning house Motoren Technik Mayer (or MTM) have turned up the wick on Audi’s S5 Coupe by adding a supercharger to the standard car’s 4.2-litre V8. The end result? Think 42% more power and a 24% increase in torque. That’s right, this baby’s got over 500 tyre-smokin’ horses under that bonnet.
The supercharger works its magic by forcing air through an integrated liquid-to-air intercooler, which improves compressor efficiency and protects the engine from damage from detonation. A full stainless-steel exhaust speeds up gas flow and, according to MTM, emits “The goose pimple-raising sound”. Total output from the MTM-fettled engine is a very respectable 505hp - 120hp per litre - while there’s a stump-pulling 546Nm of torque.
A coilover suspension upgrade stiffens and lowers the ride, while camber is increased to enhance cornering response and lateral grip. Brakes haven’t been neglected either, with MTM installing 8-piston calipers and huge 380mm rotors behind those 21-inch rims. The rear brakes have been left stock.
All up, the modifications are enough to propel the S5 to 100kph in 4.3 seconds, while top speed is now a nice and even 300kph. How much does it all cost? MTM don’t say, but we’re sure they’ll have pricing info for each of the mods up on their site soon.
PRESS RELEASE
Motoren Technik Mayer from Wettstetten, Germany, puts the Audi S5 under pressure. As “MTM GT Supercharged” the sporty coupe’s supercharged engine demonstrates impressive performance data. Together with bigger brakes, a coilover suspension and other minor changes, the result is an overall package which can take on the race track.
Pressurized
Watch out, when it gets loose! At the slightest pressure on the accelerator the MTM S5 GT Supercharged rockets forward with brute force. The compressor added to the Audi 4.2 liter V8 by MTM is what makes this possible. An MTM intercooler housing with integrated water cooling ensures that the engine can always generate maximum performance. Overall, instead of the stock 354 hp, there is now all of 505 horsepower at 7190 rpm available. This makes an engine output of 120 hp per liter! The torque boost by 106 to 546 Nm emerges in vehement intermediate bursts, to which the driver can get addicted. The sprint from 0-100 km/h takes 4.3 seconds, turning many super sports cars green with envy. And up to its top speed of 300 km/h it can hold its own with any of them.
The evenly powerful, dynamic power display is underscored by a flow-optimized stainless steel sports exhaust system. The goose pimple-raising sound is released by four tailpipes, each 90 mm in diameter.
Curve-hugging and agile
MTM equipped its GT Supercharged with a perfectly tuned coilover suspension and in addition amended the axle geometry with higher camber angles. After the change, its driving dynamism and curve-hugging characteristics are so pronounced you never want to drive straight-ahead again. The steering characteristics are more precise and the agility enhanced, while road handling remains quite neutral.
Braking
Since a performance-enhanced vehicle also has to be reined in quickly, MTM improved the brake performance, too. Consequently MTM always provides the appropriate brake system for cars of all performance classes. In the case of MTM GT Supercharged, the Bavarian specialists upgraded the deceleration with a new brake system on the front axle. This is a brake system with 8-piston fixed calipers and 380×34 mm pitted brake discs. The package includes the flexible steel lines and attachments. With the system the driver can decelerate the MTM GT Supercharged from 100-0 km/h within about 35 m. The “pitted” brake discs incidentally represent a special design, manufactured especially for MTM. Typical of “pitted” brake discs are the holes which do not completely penetrate the disc. They look like and share the characteristics of a perforated disc, but hinder the crack formation which normally occurs after lengthy use.
The small difference
Optically the GT Supercharged does not look very different from the series model. Here MTM has gone in for understatement. Nevertheless – apart from the MTM exhaust system’s pipes – the “bimoto” MTM rims take care of a look clearly distinguished from the series. The eye-catching wheels are available in “shiny silver”, “titanium” and “diamond cut” finishes. MTM provides the “bimoto” rim for the S5 – as for other A5 models too – in 10.5×21″ as a complete rim set together with 295/25/ZR21 tires.
At MTM the general rule is: special wishes are met. Customization is also carried out on an individual basis!

Mmmmm…. Audi S5 or an BMW M3? Tough Call
S5!!!! Admittedly it probably isn’t quite up to the M3’s standard but it is beautiful to look at and those Audi interiors are just sensational.
S5 vs M3, M3 definitely. If an RS5 came out with these sort of figures, or even just equal to the M3, I know what I’d go for wheelnut! Audi.
I agree Steane. I’ve only seen 2 S5/A5s on the road, and they look very nice indeed.
I do agree JBOT….but can you cop the front end as seems devoid of major design and style and looks tad bland hey.
Hi folks - never owned a BMW but did have an Audi so its thw Audi for me over the M3. But the M3’s admittedly does it slightly better, as proven by Top Gear.
I would still trust the mighty M technicians more………they have been doing it for an awfully long time and throwing a big air pump on the existing E92 M3 might also show some great benefit as well but as BMW are already getting 420 hp out of their 4.0 litre V8 and getting 0-100 times in 4.8 secs then have wrapped the rest of the handling package around that,I wouldn’t want to destroy perfection, the Audi on the other hand, sure it looks a little more worked than the sheepish stature of the E92 but hey I like that look, sort of a female porn star dressed in a mans 3 piece suit…maybe not special looking from the outside but ya know when ya get inside you had better hang on for the ride of your life……..
Oh and I hate the Audi grills………..whoops where is Tonyn……
Come help me here Godspeed………my BMW support team member/GT-R owner……….he’ll revert again one day………
Look at the 2 company Mottos:
BMW - Sheer Driving Pleasure.. and what could be more enjoyable then getting into a performance car exploring its potential its limits until you reach a point where man and machine virtually become one
Audi - Vorksprung der Technik [Advancement through technology] so the cars are packed with so many more computerised controls etc mostly to make up for the drivers short comings by putting a limit on things or interfering with things thereby taking control away from the driver and the overall experience
Thought you were watchin telly babe……you leaning over to one side of the fence then………..I do have to say BMW quality is slipping………when I went to the launch of the E92 M3 ,I was picking the bag out of it. Sound insulation under the bonnet seems to be shrinking faster than the US economy. The interior is dead set boring, the CD stacker is still in the boot, grrrrr, the paint was too orange peely and the M colour range was yawnnnnnnnn. This being said its the most popular M3 sold to date in this country so far ,thats says a lot about their reputation yes but I doubt I would be disappointed if I ever get to drive a new one……stil waiting??? Tonyn drove one last year..grumble grumble…hes was nahhhhhhhh, still prefer an Audi, but he just driven a n Audi R8 over a few days………hahaha. Pizza in an R8 ,unheard of…
The E36 also has a somewhat understated look BM;
A very close friend of mine owns one - in Atlantis Blue; and when she took it to a BMW specialist workshop the mechanics there didn’t pick it as an M3
Not only that but the M3 along with the Aston Martin and Porche 911 is a classic design in as much as it still looks modern whereas I think there are a number of other modern performance cars suchas this that will be out of date within a couple of years as theyre trying to look too modern too leading edge
Based on that alone I would go for an M3
hahaha…………….very funny babe. She comes home tomorrow and pulled through her health check …..cant wait to get out of the Geetz………I think its also happy to get me out, driving a 1.3 litre like a M3 is a little hard on it………Got to love rentas…
I guess its your choice Wheelnut ……M3 ….keep your lover happy or like the Audi and spend some cold nights alone in bed.hahaha
You know rentas are one of the worlds fastest cars..
in reverse
M3.. as its the complete preformance package.. and as you said on a previous thread if BMW made an M3 Ute I would definitely buy one. You know me so well
hahaha,I take it your out of the shower ?I find it hard to find reverse in the thing to test it out,and when I do it jumps out every now and then. Its a wonder BMW haven’t thought about a pickup version for the states….they seem to be making every thing else for them?
Too right they could make a ute out of the M3 and a Pick-up out of an X5.. I mean Ive seen pics of a Stretched Porsche [944] ute in the UK. It would be a real head turner
im weak at the knees!!!! that S5 is a stunning car to drive, when i was in charge of our audi dealership i drove one for 3 months and fell inlove with that car!!
MTM S5 does look great. I’m curious as to how well it drives - how they’ve fettled the Quattro to deal with the 500hp. Does it lose feel or precision? I’d still have an M3 for its rear-drive purity, but there is definitely appeal to the subdued appearance of the Audi - take the S5 badges off and you’ve got a real sleeper / rocket, waiting for the next guy in his SS commodore to try and take you (sorry Wheelnut)
Hamann have already tuned the E92 M3 to 455hp, though of course, it doesn’t look as subtle as the Audi:

Have you seen the RS5 impression yet? It looks absolutely amazing, you can see it here: http://www.audifocus.com/2008/07/24/audi-rs5-impression/
I want one!
Please I want to know the price of Audi 2009 S5 with the modification done by MTM how much ??????? why u don’t include prices in all your models ????!!!!
Tell me please how to display the prices for your all models
