Learn About Your New Top Gear Hosts

Following on from yesterday’s news that SBS have announced the identities of the three presenters of the Australian Top Gear series, there’s now a short bio available at the SBS website for each of them.

At a cursory glance, it looks as if the popular opinion at the moment may still be the right one: these guys appear to have the goods. Of course, a solid background doesn’t necessarily make for the right on-screen chemistry, but only time can answer that one. Will these three lads become household names in the homes of car enthusiasts around Oz?

Check them out here: Charlie Cox, Warren Brown, Steve Pizzati.

Here’s a question for our readers: What nicknames will these three come up with for each other? Over time, May’s picked up the Captain Slow moniker, and Hammond has been christened with the perfectly suited Hamster title, and… well, oddly, I can’t recall if Clarkson’s got a nickname! But if you had to pick a nickname for the Aussie presenters, what would they be?

Incidentally, I love Photoshop.

Gotta go with the Aussie nicknames don’tcha!

Coxy, Browny, Pizza!

Each Bio sounds great; it’s possible these fellas might just pull it off. I remember Charlie Cox’s comment about Superbike Racer James Toseland at the Assen GP : “He’s got such bad luck that if he fell into a bucket of boobs, he’d still come up sucking his thumb.” I don’t remember Charlie, but I do remember he is a funny bugger.

If he (and the others) can come up with that brand of humor like the above comment, Top Gear Australia might prove to be essential viewing.

I’m already imagining the first episode.

Kidnap glen ridge, stick him in the boot and have Aussie stigo do a hot lap.

While piping a recording of Ridge’s past broadcasts through a speaker in the boot ;)

hahaha..Mike soooooooo I take it you you enjoy torture?

Great bios - these blokes look the goods. Hopefully this is the beginning of a great show!

Conquistador, I like your style.

Now Mike, I know it’s only Glenn Ridge, but is that kind of treatment allowed under the Geneva Convention? I think that “Being forced to endure recordings of The Car Show” falls under the same section as “Being forced to eat a landmine”.
Don’t quote me on that, but I’m pretty sure it’s right…

Like fingernails down a blackboard.

OOOOOOOOOCH……to the clever ones it actually is OOOOOUCH! MISSILE, JBOT, WHEELNUT - you know who I mean?
