SsangYong has today announced a new entry level variant of their Sports Dual Cab aimed at tradesman looking for a tough no-nonsense workhorse ute on the cheap.

The SsangYong Sports Dual Cab Tradie will boast a value-for-money price tag of just $24,990 for the 4×2 five-speed manual powered by the eco-friendly common rail two-litre turbo diesel engine, making it the best priced dual cab diesel on the market.

Ever practical and in the interest of keeping the price down, the SsangYong Tradie will be available only in white and will be equipped with steel wheels and a front disc/rear drum brake set-up.

Powering the Tradie is a Euro IV compliant two-litre four cylinder common rail turbo-diesel engine that generates 104kW at 4,000rpm and maximum torque of 310Nm/1,800rpm. For a vehicle of this size, the fuel consumption is remarkably low with SsangYong quoting a combined cycle of just 8.1L per 100km.

Despite the low price, there is still plenty of kit that is included in the price of the Tradie, including air conditioning, power windows, remote locking and dual SRS airbags and cloth trim.

“Clearly there is a demand for a vehicle like this that has less of the creature comforts and a lower price for those seeking a more basic and less luxurious vehicle. The Tradie proves that you don’t have to compromise comfort or safety in a basic dual cab ute for under $25,000,” said Russell Burling, SsangYong Motors Australasia managing director.

The Dual Cab Tradie is rated with a 750kg payload and features a coil sprung rear-suspension a unique feature amongst the dual-cab ute brigade. A tray liner is also included as standard fitment.

The Tradie will also be available as a 4×4 manual priced at $27,990 and joins the two other model variants in the SsangYong Sports Dual Cab line up including the standard 4×2 and 4×4 and the range leading SPR 4×4.

Sister, you is sooooooo uuuuuuugly!

With a mouth to rival Steven Tyler from Aerosmith, it certainly has a face only a mother could love.

The shame about these things is that no tradie with mates is going to buy one. Can you imagine rocking up to the site in one of these? You’d never bloody hear the end of it! Your mates are there in their Hiluxs and SS and XR8 utes, and here’s you in your smacked in the face Tradie. Dang.

Yeah, but the first time he takes his mates to the pub at luchtime, he’ll be the one laughing at their cramped, uncomfortable bone jarring twin cab Hilux’s.
These things have a lot going for them, unfortunately, style isn’t one of them.

Haaaaaaaaaaaaaa couldnt agree more Mike ! Dont forget the triton or is that in the same boat???? Nah it’s all good

Mr Bean on drugs did this surely!

If this was on a building site…..unlicensed tradie and would be a shiela driving it. NO PUN INTENDED MISSILE. WHAT IAM SAYING IS RARE AS FOR ME TO SEE A SHIELA ON A BUILDING SITE AND EVEN RARER FOR ONE OF THESE FUGLY ODDITIES TO BE ON SITE!

How many schooner’s do you need to scull down before this thing starts looking good?????

Talk about needing beer goggles!!!

Wow buy one of these if you don’t want any street cred or friends. Ssanyong get another awrd for building ugly another ugly car.
Does anyone buy these fugly things

Good call STUNT…..I have seen a real estate agent drive it. He wears a pink shirt at work LOL….so no other sighted period. The Mavic as uglier then this ute if possible.

CARL……gee man you are right but forget schooners as would be kegs cobber!

Obviously designed by the same guy who designed the current triton ute

They do cupid I have at least 30 odd Rexton SUVs
[Merc ML320 x'ed with an AU Falcon] around my area but not many utes.

I dont mind look of Rexton hey…..not bad at all!

Just wanted to warn all you holden drivers.
Mate,do not make a mistake and trade your commodore for this piece of JUNK.
I have had this piece of junk, brand new for just over a month and it has already been back to the dealership on 2 occasions on the back of a tow-truck.
I have had 24 hour service out here twice as well.
The electrics are stuffed
It is a piece of crap and I am looking forward to getting back into the good old RELIABLE COMMODORE.

A reliable commodore, didn’t that go in the way of the dodo.
Just think of that lovely v8, always having the bonnet up.

Guys, do what you like but I’ll be blunt about the warning….”Buy this vehicle at your peril”. See the add they have “more for your money…” you’ll get that and more if you dare to show up during the warranty period. Also check the smotor.com website, the max rear payload on this car is less than 500Kg.Ssangyong is Korean for “on your own jack”.
