According to the folks at CAR magazine, BMW’s M1 Hommage concept is heading for production - although don’t expect it to carry the M1 moniker.
CAR also hint that the productionised M1 will feature a three-stong engine lineup, a lightweight body construction incorporating ‘heron-wing doors’ and a ‘multi-layered, driver-focussed interior’.
CAR don’t go into specifics (they request that you fork out for their July issue if you want to know more, natch), but they do quote BMW board member Herbert Diess as saying, “We have the know-how, we have the right engine, we even have the infrastructure to build such a car”. Big words, but are BMW going to back them up? We’ll let you know more once we’ve leafed through CAR while “browsing” at the local newsagent, but until then enjoy the gallery of the BMW M1 Hommage concept below.

I’m looking forward to seeing what BMW come up with here. I’m guessing they’ve seen what the R8 is doing for Audi’s rep and want to join in the fun.
I agree, the car is automotive design on-par with the quality of the lambo reventon, but the wheels on this M1 are as nasty as a peep-show, an elegant car needs to be 110% elegant.
As long as us women don’t reveal the colour of our knickers getting out of this one, wheels have to go though.
