According to the folks at CAR magazine, BMW’s M1 Hommage concept is heading for production - although don’t expect it to carry the M1 moniker.
CAR also hint that the productionised M1 will feature a three-stong engine lineup, a lightweight body construction incorporating ‘heron-wing doors’ and a ‘multi-layered, driver-focussed interior’.
CAR don’t go into specifics (they request that you fork out for their July issue if you want to know more, natch), but they do quote BMW board member Herbert Diess as saying, “We have the know-how, we have the right engine, we even have the infrastructure to build such a car”. Big words, but are BMW going to back them up? We’ll let you know more once we’ve leafed through CAR while “browsing” at the local newsagent, but until then enjoy the gallery of the BMW M1 Hommage concept below.

Good move. BMW need a hero car, and this thing looks great! (Just need to replace those hideous wheels)
Gotta agree clearly there JBOT…..wheels look ghastly hey!
I’m looking forward to seeing what BMW come up with here. I’m guessing they’ve seen what the R8 is doing for Audi’s rep and want to join in the fun.
I agree, the car is automotive design on-par with the quality of the lambo reventon, but the wheels on this M1 are as nasty as a peep-show, an elegant car needs to be 110% elegant.
As long as us women don’t reveal the colour of our knickers getting out of this one, wheels have to go though.
Spoil sport BM ! Heheheeee
This looks bloody hot.
Build it BMW!
Im protecting you from those that wear none most of all 280ZX….Then again I cant see Paris or Brittney in one of these,I doubt BMW would sell them one!I hope!hahaha
Those that wear none ?? Annnnd your point BM ? Haaaaaaa actually im the opposite BM i could see Paris in one of these no problem its just low enough for her ( if you know what i mean)….
hahaha..nice play on words babe!
