PEUGEOT AUSTRALIA has dropped pricing across its entire range by up to $2200, following the Federal Government's reduced import tariffs from January 1.
Along with the reduced pricing, Peugeot has added its Electronic Stability Program (ESP) system to all Australia-delivered models, ahead of mandatory national requirements set to take effect from 2011.
The 207 GTi falls by $1000 to $33,490, while the 207 CC now starts at $35,490, down by $900. The 207 CC Turbo sees the biggest price cut in the 207 range, down $1400 to $39,990.
The Peugeot 308, the French carmaker's best selling model in Australia, sees the most significant price reduction.
The price of the 308 hatch range falls $2200, starting with the 1.6 litre manual 308 XS at $24,990. The 1.6 litre HDi diesel manual 308 hatch is the exception, however, falling $1700 to $28,990.
The 308 Touring range drops $1800 for all models except the XS HDi diesel manual, which is reduced by $1300. The entry-level 1.6 litre petrol 308 Touring XS now starts at $29,990.
The 308 CC range falls by $1500, with the 1.6 litre petrol turbo 308 CC starting at $47,490.
The 2.0 litre HDI diesel automatic sedan version of the Peugeot 407 drops $1000 to $40,990. The 2.0 litre HDi diesel ST model is down $1200 to $43,990, and the Touring wagon model starts at $46,990.
The price of the new Peugeot 4007 four-wheel-drive has been slashed by $1000, starting at $44,990 for the 2.2 litre HDi diesel manual ST and $53,190 for the HDi diesel seven-seat SV, paired with Peugeot's dual-clutch transmission.
The brand's light commercial vehicles benefit from price cuts, with the Partner van reduced by $600 to $22,390 and the Expert large van reduced by between $2,000 and $2,600 across the three model range, starting at $34,990.
In 2010, Peugeot Australia will launch the 3008 compact SUV and the stylish RCZ sports car. While specific dates and pricing for both models have yet to be revealed, Peugeot's Mark McCartney confirmed to TMR recently that the 3008 is set for a second-quarter launch.
“The 3008 will be here in the second quarter of 2010, though we can’t say specifically when. We’re hoping for earlier rather than later, of course,” Mr McCartney told TMR.
“The 3008 is an interesting car, size and style-wise. It’s a combination of compact SUV meets car, meets hatchback, and we’re looking at people who want a bit more car in their SUV or a bit more SUV in their car.
“People looking at hatchbacks but want something bigger, perhaps with a higher seating position and with more space than your usual hatchback. People that want more from a standard-sized car, without stretching to a full-size SUV.”
