2008 Saab 9-3 Aero TTiD

Saab Australia have taken delivery of their first ever diesel to wear the Aero badge; the Saab 9-3 Aero TTiD. Responsible performance is the mantra behind the new Aero, which boasts exceptional power and torque for a 1.9-litre four-cylinder diesel.

Saab have long been specialists in turbocharger technology and their talents have been put to good use in the re-development of their 1.9-litre, 16-valve TTiD engine.

Sporting the latest common rail, direct and multiple fuel injection technology the key to the new engines impressive outputs is a unique two-stage turbocharging system. Despite its relatively small capacity the Saab diesel produces 132kW and an impressive 400Nm (370Nm for the auto).

From idle to 1,500 rpm a small turbo does all of the work. Between 1,500 and 3,000 rpm it is assisted by a second larger turbo and above 3,000rpm the larger turbo takes over. The result is boost thats available from low in the rpm range with lag being kept to a minimum.

Buyers can choose between either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission with the manual Sport Sedan capable of a achieving a combined 5.7 L/100km.
