ALONG WITH THE S5 Cabriolet, Audi has today announced the Australian launch of the Audi TT RS - the high-performance version of the new TT, launched locally in August last year.

Delivering 250kW and 450Nm of torque, the TT RS is powered by a brand-new 2.5 litre five-cylinder turbo-charged petrol engine, paired with Audi's quattro all-wheel-drive system.

Combined with Audi's six-speed manual transmission, the turbo engine and quattro system see the TT RS dash to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

Fuel economy for the TT RS is listed as 9.2 l/100km.

Priced at $133,700, Audi Australia Managing Director Joerg Hofman said the company expects to sell around 80 cars per year.

"The new generation TT is larger, longer and lighter than its predecessor, and even with its superb performance, the TTRS still manages to offer efficient driving and low CO2. These traits will certainly appeal to Australian buyers," Mr Hofman said.

The TT RS rides on 10mm lower, sport-tuned suspension, coupled with Audi Magnetic Ride for improved handling.

Unlike the standard 18-inch inch wheels of the international models, the Australian-delivered TT RS is fitted with 19-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Behind the front wheels, 370mm ventilated rotors with four piston calipers manage the braking, joined by 310mm rotors in the rear.

Inside, a perforated leather multifunction steering wheel is featured, along with Nappa leather-trimmed seats - complete with RS logos.

The interior is predominantly black, with brushed aluminium highlights and RS logos and badges throughout.

Internationally, the TT RS is offered in hardtop Coupe and Roadster bodystyles, but - for now at least - the TT RS is available in Australia in hardtop Coupe form only.

Pricing and Availability

The Audi TT RS is available now, priced from $133,700 (manufacturer's list price, does not include statutory and  dealer fees).

"with Audi Magnetic Ride for improved handling."

Is that standard or an optional extra? I thought it was optional overseas.

Thanks for the reply, Mike. I knew it was pretty good, especially considering it's 0-100km/h time is about as fast as say an Aston Martin DB9.
