It’s been a long haul for Jaguar. For decades it has performed in a less than stellar fashion, soldiering on with product that has been stuck in its own stylish time warp: carriages for gentleman who had long since started shopping elsewhere.

Like Aston Martin, Jaguar was bailed out when Ford purchased them as a facet for their now defunct Premium Automotive Group and while Ford’s dreams of PAG may have died, their money and expertise has wrought massive change at the big cats lair.

Automotive News has reported that on the eve of its sale to India’s Tata Motors, Jaguar has posted its first sales increase in two years. In fact, Jaguar’s April sales were up an amazing 69.6 percent in Europe. Why I hear you ask? Well, the new Jaguar XF is proving to be big hit.

The XF is bringing buyers back into Jaguar showrooms. The ‘gentleman’ may be keeping their distance but younger buyers looking for a stylish and very competent luxury car are lining up with some 18,000 pre-orders having been taken.

Winning acclaim across the globe the XF is set to change the fortunes of the once proud English marque. It is difficult to find a road test in which the Jaguar isn’t considered superior to its German competitors and lets face it, in that regard it has been a long time between drinks.

The following video is just one example.
