FOLLOWING UPDATES made to the GS range last month, Lexus Australia has introduced the all-new LS 460 Sports and a refresh for the Australian LS 460 line-up.

The LS 460 Sports gains a unique body kit, grille and wheels, designed to give the big saloon a wider, lower stance.

The Sports model isn't simply a cosmetic update, however. A revised transmission, paddle shifters, retuned suspension, upgraded stabiliser bars and a Brembo brake package figure among the Sports' features.

The LS 460 Sports' eight-speed sequential-shifting transmission draws on the IS F's transmission tune, offering up-shift times of just 0.3 seconds.

As with the IS F, the LS 460 Sports' transmission includes both manual and automatic modes. Manual mode has been designed to provide a clutchless, manual-like driving experience.

A revised suspension package is featured with the Sports version of Lexus' range-topping sedan, with re-tuned air suspension and upgraded stabilisers fitted for a firmer ride and reduced body roll in cornering.

Braking is managed by Brembo six-piston calipers and 380mm diametre discs up front, and four-piston calipers and 334mm discs at the rear.

Along with the introduction of the LS Sports, Lexus has waved its wand over the entire LS line-up, with visual and technical upgrades for 2010.

New headlight and taillights feature, along with redesigned front and rear bumpers, grille and mirror-mounted turn indicators.

LED running lights feature along the bottom of the new headlights.

All LS 460 models now feature retuned air suspension, with a focus on greater support and response.

Inside, the LS 460 gets a redesigned centre cluster, with new switch gear and chrome highlights.

A new ECO mode has been added, reducing the power needed to operate the air conditioning and improving fuel economy in the process.

A new rear seat entertainment screen features in the back, its slimline design providing better visibility through the rear vision mirror. The new entertainment system is not available with the LS 460 Sports.

All new LS models will feature new scratch-resistant clear coating for improved paint durability. The paint has been developed to minimise damage via general wear and tear and light scratching.

Pricing And Availability

Both the LS 460 and LS 460 Sports start at $199,900, excluding dealer delivery, on-road costs and region-specific fees.

The LS 460 and LS 460 Sports are available now.

No matter how hard I try, I find it very hard to like this CAMRY.

Although most people always joke about Lexus really being a Toyota under the skin - they have at least always somewhat differentiated themselves cosmetically... UNTIL NOW. This one just looks exactly like an AURION/CAMRY. Why would you buy a 150,000 dollar AURION when you could spend 50,000 instead...

Why would you buy a car on its looks? Just cause it looks like a Camry shouldn't mean anything.

Its not just my opinion then, Lexus more than ever before is an over priced tarted up Camry/Aurion.
Only Toyota can continue to rip people of like this, there's nothing unique or prestigious with Lexus design....

The tacked-on spoiler and skirts keep it in the family tradition.
