AS WITH THE Series I, the updated Series II Dualis is available in 2WD and ALL MODE 4x4 versions, featuring a 5-Star ANCAP safety rating, manual and CVT automatic transmissions, and three specification and trim grades.

Styling

The refreshed Dualis gets an edgier and more aggressive frontal treatment, with new headlights, bonnet, grille and bumper making up the bulk of the updates.

The new bumper has been reshaped around the centre air-intake, designed to optimise air-flow and offer a sportier appearance.

The rear end remains largely unchanged, however the tail-lights get restyled lenses (with 12 LEDs) and there are minor styling tweaks to the bumper and rear panels for improved aerodynamics and reduced drag.

Overall, the Dualis' drag coefficient has dropped from 0.34 to 0.33 with the 2010 update.

The Dualis ST 2WD is now offered with a new 16-inch alloy wheel as standard, while the range-topping Dualis Ti 2WD and AWD models feature a new 18-inch alloy wheel design.

Interior

Inside, the 2010 Dualis features a redesigned instrument cluster and a new drive computer between the main dials.

The drive computer's displayed details include instant and average fuel consumption, distance travelled and distance to empty, and cruise control information.

Low-level lighting has been fitted around the front footwells, designed to provide a warmer ambience and greater nighttime visibility when entering or exiting the 2010 Dualis.

Interior storage grows with the Series II Dualis, thanks to a new 'cubby' at the base of the central dash column.

For 2WD models, a new storage space features where the ALL MODE selector would otherwise be located in AWD models.

Nissan has improved the Dualis' noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) performance for 2010, with the addition of an 'acoustic' windscreen and a new multi-layer insulation material fitted around the front bulkhead.

Equipment

New to this latest update are steering wheel audio controls, Bluetooth handsfree (also with steering wheel controls), and, depending upon the model, some nicely integrated new exterior features.

Carry-over standard equipment on the Dualis 2WD ST models include cruise-control with steering wheel controls, air-conditioning, disc brakes all round, ABS/EBD with Brake Assist, Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) and Traction Control System (TCS), MP3 aux input, and six airbags - including front to rear SRS curtain airbags.

The range-topping Series II Nissan Dualis 2WD Ti model adds a new panoramic glass roof, 18-inch alloy wheels, dual-zone auto climate-control, 'Intelligent Key' keyless entry and rear privacy glass.

Previous standard equipment carrying over to the Series II Ti models includes leather upholstery, six-CD in-dash auto-changer with MP3/WMA compatibility and six speakers, automatic headlights, rain-sensing front wipers, front fog lights, front heated seats and front passenger under-seat storage.

The Series II Nissan DUALIS ALL MODE 4x4 Ti model also gets a set of silver roof rails.

Mechanical

The Series II Dualis is powered by a 102kW 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine.

While no mechanical changes have been made to the Dualis line-up, improved aerodynamics have given the small SUV a slight improvement in fuel consumption, dropping to 8.1 l/100km for the manual and 8.2 l/100km for the CVT auto - a 0.1 l/100km saving over the previous model.

Revised engine management has also reduced emissions in AWD models by 7g/km, and 4g/km for the 2WD models.

As with the previous model, the Series II Dualis range is powered by a 2.0 litre four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 102kW and 198Nm of torque.

IT is available with either a slick-shifting six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with six manually selectable 'gear ratios'.

Front suspension is a conventional MacPherson strut set-up mounted on a sub-frame, with a lower forward link.

A fully-independent multi-link rear suspension is mounted via the rigid rear subframe, designed to keep noise and vibrations to a minimum.
