THE FIRST IMAGES and details of Mitsubishi's upcoming compact SUV have been revealed today ahead of its 2010 debut when it will launch as the Mitsubishi RVR.

Based on Mitsubishi's 2007 cX concept and previewed in recent official sketches and spy photos, the 2010 RVR is built on the same mid-size platform as the Lancer.

Measuring 4.3 metres long, the new RVR is around 365mm shorter than the Outlander SUV, recently updated with the same Lancer-inspired face.

The compact RVR will be powered by a new 1.8 litre MIVEC petrol engine. No word has been given on whether a diesel engine will join the range.

The new RVR will be the third Mitsubishi to wear the name, the previous two models being built between 1991 and 2002.

Mitsubishi is keeping its cards close to its chest on the RVR, with specific technical, pricing and launch details still to come.

Cool looking little car... But i think the very lower sections of the front and rear bumpers and the sils should be black (like the last forester...). It would make it look a little tougher. This also gives it the impression of being higher / having more clearance...

But overall a cool lookin SUV... hopefully it sells well here

MJ, those coloured bumpers will probs only feature on the upmarket models, hence Mitsubishi showing that model. And a stupid name BTW. RVR is competely ridiculous, and Mitsu shouldn't stray away from real names like Outlander and Challenger. Rear lights are reminiscent of a BMW X1.

    Fantastic work Mitsubishi!.
I actually like this design, lets hope MMAL can choose their own model name for this fresh new vehicle, the well established RVR name may be well known oversea's but its unsuitable here in Australia.
Perhaps MMAL should utilise one of their existing and unused names like "Nimbus, Sigma or Galant?".
This little stunner should do well for MMAL if they get it right with the pricing and marketing etc.
    Cant wait ti see it.

    Oh dear Steven A!!

If MMAL chose ANY of those names you suggested the poor car would be dead in the water before it even arrived!!

this is a great looking and part of the new mitsu range the head lights are the same used on the 2011 lancer, only killer is that its heavier than a lancer and it's only got a 1.8L as where my 2010 RX lancer has a 2.0L hhmmm shot them selves in the foot there..
