Despite Ferrari’s countdown timer still showing 7 days to go before the next reveal, the very first images of Ferrari’s new Gran Turismo have become available – thanks to Ferrari’s media site…
Dubbed (for the time being at least) the California it shows that even Ferrari isn’t afraid of a bit of retro. The original 250 GT California was one of Ferraris greatest and the designers of the new GT haven’t been shy when it comes to borrowing a few highlights, including the vents behind the front wheels, a slim hood scoop and headlights that are all reminiscent of the classic 250 GT.
Powered by a V8 mounted up front the California is destined to claim a number of Ferrari firsts including being the first Ferrari with a front mounted V8 and the first to feature a retractable hard top.
Judging from these first images, the California is set to be the new darling of the Ferrari clan. We can see the line of hopeful buyers stretching for blocks as the Ferrari California order book overflows.
Stay tuned as more on the Ferrari California is set to be revealed over the coming weeks and months in the lead up to the September public unveiling.

Hard to believe its the first front mounted V8 for Ferrari! after all these years….
Wow, I reckon that’s stunning. It’s not what I usually go for—being more a fan of the hardcore face of a serial killer—but it’s definitely a beautiful looking piece of kit. Good work Fez!
She’s a stunner alright.
Nope.
While I like the idea of a go-kart Ferrari (which we haven’t see since the gorgeous F355), I fear that this California GT owes less in terms of styling cues to its namesake forebear and more to the Fiat Barchetta.
Which isn’t bad thing on its own - but - this is meant to be a Ferrari.
I’m afraid I’m with Gunnar, while the overall shape and proportions look alright, some of the detailing (particularly the front end) look too cutesy and it doesn’t look low enough. I think you’ll find more than a few girls driving these things (which is alright for the bystander but maybe not so good for the brand)
its screams boxster to me
there i said it
