MITSUBISHI AUSTRALIA has today launched a new television commercial featuring the Lancer Evolution "as it has never been seen before".
The commercial features an entirely computer-generated Evolution and a backdrop that Mitsubishi says was inspired by the popular science fiction film Bladerunner.
While the featured Evo is a computer-fiction, some live action footage was used in the car's recreation for enhanced accuracy and realism.
“The Mitsubishi team and Resin [the ad's producers] have combined our ideas and efforts to come up with something really special here," Paul Unerkov, Mitsubishi Australia Vice President of Brand Management said.
"To be able to recreate this stunning vehicle with such technical accuracy, and to simulate the movements and abilities of this high performance vehicle, all in CGI, is incredible.”
Check out the commercial below.

When I was looking at the 5sp Evo X + performance pack back in June this year, it was going to set me back $71k on road. I ended up going for the Subaru Sti Spec R instead which was better value, saving me $5k.
However, if they were selling the Evo X at $58k, add on the $5,500 performance pack (which actually ends up costing you $7,500 after taxes) that places the Evo X at $65.5k, which would have placed me in the seat and driving away the Evo X instead of my beloved Scooby.
At the end of the day tho, I'm still happy with my Scooby :-D

It's a heavy car, at Phillip Island an F6 Auto is faster by some 2 seconds. The game has moved on. Mitsi need to price it more aggressively to gain some sales back if they are serious about selling this car. Also chastise the stupid dealers attitudes that an EVO is a Ferrari or Porsche and won't let anyone test drive one or negotiate on price. That's why we are going into 2010 and they still have 2008 stock around, nothing to do with GFC, not here in Australia anyway.
Either drop the price or improve on the $2.50 interior. The interior isn't even good enough to be in a $20K car let alone a $60K one. All that ugly nasty hard plastic everywhere and what’s with the ugly tiny dials? Nasty! No one not one picture of the interior was shown in that ad, can't blame them either.
Finxes for the EVO XI; Less weight, more power & torque, 6 speed manual because the 5th cog in the current GSR dies in the are, BETTER INTERIOR, and ditch the ugly rear wing! Or make it smaller, I'm not asian with a Honda prelude and massive rear wing thinking i'm about to take off at kingsford smith. Leave the big wings to the asian aftermarket scene. The bigger the wing the better. Shame if they put more effort into their driving skills over their obsession with big wings we would all be much safer on the road for it.

I agree on the interior quality. The dashboard black is actually dark blue under direct sunlight, which doesnt match the door trims which are real black... Dials are small, the 5sp gear knob is somewhat cheap - much like what you would get in a Mazda 3 neo. Dash lines dont meet properly either (seem to be off centre at cross points)...
Bring back the Evo IX if you ask me!

I agree that the advert is a little boring though ... reminds me a little of the Monaro Game on advert.
The price decrease is v.attractive though ...

each to their own, but you can't mock excellence.
