Lotus Exige Scura Announced For Australia In Extremely Limited Numbers

LOTUS AUSTRALIA HAS announced local availability for the Lotus Exige Scura - Italian for 'dark' - limited to just 35 examples worldwide.

Priced at $139,990 (plus on-roads) in Australia, only a very small number of Scura edition Exiges will be available.

Finished in a matt black and carbon fibre theme with 'Phantom Black' striping, the Scura made its debut at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show.

A carbon fibre front splitter, oil cooler inlet vanes, side air-scoops and rear spoiler make for both a weight saving and an aesthetic enhancement.

Carbon fibre has been used extensively throughout the Scura's interior, including the seats and centre console. The handbrake and gear knob have been anodised, giving the components an anthracite finish.

Weighing in at 925kg and powered by the same 1.8 litre supercharged inline-four of the Exige Cup 260, the Exige Scura develops 191kW, dispatching the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.1 seconds.

As with the Cup 260, the Scura's fuel economy is listed as 8.5 l/100km and CO2 emissions are rated at 199g/km.

Standard equipment includes launch control, Ohlins two-way adjustable dampers and Lotus Variable Slip Traction Control, which allows owners to specify their own settings to suit driving style and road conditions.

"There are very few cars in the world that turn in the performance of the Exige Scura without the penalty of very high fuel consumption and emissions," Roger Becker, Vehicle Engineering Director said.

"As with all Lotus sportscars we offer the best of both worlds - a zero to 100 km/h time of just over four seconds and a CO2 figure of 199g/km; all this is down to light weight and a strict adherence to Lotus' core brand values."

    To be honest if you had money to buy the lotus for the odd 100K why tha hell would you care about fuel consumption, obviously your throwing away your money already on a small cabin with zero comfort and some how your concious needs to leave a small carbon foot print aswell? I would rather buy a Lexsus ISF.

    but why would you even bother thinking about an IS-F when the GT-R is only 15 grand more, if you're going to say who cares about fuel consumption.

    Its good to see the lotus can and do make true performance cars, not so-called performace-hybrids or whatever. that give good fuel consumption.
