TOYOTA AUSTRALIA has launched a new television advertisement, titled 'Better Together', designed to promote its Hybrid Synergy Drive in Australia.

The commercial is built on the idea that two can achieve more than one - a message that Toyota Australia's David Buttner describes as a metaphor for the company's hybrid vehicles.

"The advertisement is about a man who has another version of himself, helping him with whatever he is doing. The two work together in perfect harmony, achieving amazing efficiency and power," Mr Buttner said.

"It is a metaphor for Hybrid Synergy Drive technology, which continues to improve, produce more power and use less fuel with fewer emissions," he said.

The campaign follows Toyota's announcement that it plans to expand its hybrid offerings in Australia, introducing eight new models in the next four years.


The first will be the Hybrid Camry, currently in the final stages of development at the carmaker's Altona plant in Victoria.

Toyota Australia has not revealed its plans for the other models, but hybrid versions of its existing line-up - along with a number of new dedicated hybrids - is likely.

Mr Buttner said that the hybrid-driven stands of other manufacturers at last week's Tokyo Motor Show vindicated Toyota's early focus on hybrid technology.
