TOYOTA HAS REVEALED a styling update for the 2010 Auris, sold locally as the iconic Toyota Corolla.

Toyota Australia’s Roxane Persehais, although tight-lipped on exactly what the update would entail, confirmed to TMR that a facelifted Corolla will launch locally in December.

With styling revisions borrowing cues from the recent Auris HSD hybrid concept, the 2010 Auris wears a sportier countenance than the outgoing model.

Sharper headlights lifted directly from the HSD flank a wider grille opening, above a more prominent lower grille and larger fog lights.

Updates to the rear are less obvious: a new bumper - replete with faux diffuser insert flanked by large reflectors - joins a wider number plate space and grab plate.

The tail-lights maintain the outgoing model’s shape, with slight cosmetic updates to the lens and internal shaping.

The Japan-market model gets an update to the 1.8 litre engine’s dual-VVTi system and is mated to a CVT transmission with paddle shifts. It’s too early to say whether this feature will appear with the Australian-delivered 2010 Corolla.

Me likey!!!

Much better than the current Corolla. Might have to hold off buying a new car till I can add this one to my list of potentials.

lol ugly.. but i seem to think that about most of the mainstream japs these days, the interior looks sweet though, and the CVT auto should be welcomed over the 4 speeder. Still the best selling car in the world should probably be better then this… not knocking it or anything lol… i just dont see where lack of investment comes from with the corolla sometimes

Don’t know if I’d call it ugly - it’s just different / freshened up over the existing one, which itself is leagues ahead of the early-2000 era cockroach-shaped Corollas

We need the Blade Master G here with the 3.5L V6..

Anything designed by Toyota, thought by a Toyota insider, built by toyota, shipped by toyota, sold by Toyota or warranted by Toyota usually seems a no-no about it. Not a bias, not just the fact 90% of crazy unlicensed drivers (in NZ at least) drive Toyota. Just the fact I never get around their unlimited flaws in which there’s always something left out or done wrong which I want in a car

Still bland as butter to look at. Is it wrong to hope that Toyota will ever release an exciting looking/performing passenger car in the OZ market for a change?

I understand that the 2.0 litre will be available in the Ulitma (well that’s what I was told in mar this year at the Melb motor show). It is also understood, the the 2.4 litre from the Camry may show its head in the ZR, when it’s released in Jan / Feb 10 - the upgraded Corolla, besides Ulitma and ZR will be avaialbe in end nov / Dec 09.
