MERE RUMOURS LAST month, the Pontiac-faced Holden SS V-Series Special Edition has today been announced by Holden.
The SS V-Series Special Edition sports a grille clearly inspired by the US-market Pontiac G8.
Along with the special edition grille, the letterbox bonnet scoops and lower splitter of the G8 have made their way across to the new special edition Holden.

“SS V-Series has always been about sports performance and ultimate road presence. Now we’ve dialled it up even further,” Philip Brook, Holden Director of Marketing said.
Available in three colours - black, red and blue - the Special Edition version of the SS V-Series is offered in sedan, Sportwagon and Ute form.
The new model will be available from November, after the Ute makes its debut on Friday the 2nd of October at the Deni Ute Muster.

What we have all feared has come true!
But really, atleast it’s only a special edition, plus it throws in a little variety.
Has anyone got any spy shots of the next look the Commodore will get?
Well, like the HSV E2, its TARGET Audience will love it, the rest of us…not so…
UUUUUURRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHH !!!! What the hell is that? GM Obama sure know how to make ugly cars……..that front looks like a definate after-thought………doesnt match the rest of the car. I guess it uses up obsolete parts………..
Homer Simpson has been out drilling speed holes again lol
That looks absolutely hideous. The SS-V previously looked very masculine, now it looks contorted.
The Pontiac grille + nostrils should have stayed on a Pontiac.
This looks like GM had a little stock of Pontiac grilles and they put them on a ’special’ Holden. Still, I would like to thank Holden for this car…. It makes the choice for a Falcon much easier now.
GMH has just gotta Dump those ” DOG UGLY ” bonnets somewhere, don’t they !!
Whoever is responsible for that design ( lack of ) , wasn’t smacked hard enough when he was born.
Somebody please phone Mike Simcoe, NOW !!! helppppp
Once again HSV demonstrate their extrodinary ability to make an ugly car even uglier.
“Oh @*#&! guys, what are we going to do with all these unsold Pontiac parts?”
“I know, sell them at a mark up as a special edition!”
“Genius!”
Best looking SS Commodore going around….these will sell like hot cakes. If they are to be a limited run they will be a collectors item no doubt. Muscular but not too over the top… unlike HSV E2.
pontiac front end looks terrific.SS should have always been more distinctive, should become optional or standard and more colours
I agree SS with pontiac nose is great
Holden - what are you doing?? First E2, now this. I’ve always been a Holden man and always will be, but some of the exterior designs lately…
The Pontiac nose is okay if you drink Bud Light and beat your wife with your mullet daily.
I love the look of the new SS would like to get it for my black 2009 SS, just bought it but would love to have this on my car, Can you buy it and where would I get it from? Looks hot
I’m 50/50 on the look and will wait to see one in the “flesh”. The recent Commodore v Ford fuel test comparisons at Bathurst shown in the media recently make interesting reading don”t they GM.
The International Edition Commodore looks good value.
Just seen the above in the flesh! The pics don’t do it any justice what so ever. They look bloody MEAN!
