TOYOTA HAS today announced that all 1.5 litre versions of the 2009 Yaris (the YRS and YRX models) will now feature Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control as standard.

David Buttner, Executive Director for Sales and Marketing at Toyota said the two safety systems have been specifically engineered for use with the 1.5 litre engine in Australian conditions.

“Toyota is committed to adding safety features to its vehicles as and when they become available for our market,” Mr Buttner said.

“The addition of vehicle stability and traction control to the Yaris models fitted with the 1.5-litre engine can potentially reduce the number and severity of impacts.

“We will continue to add a variety of safety features to models across our range as the opportunity arises.”

Neither system is available with the 1.3 litre Yaris YR or the recently released YR-based Yaris Edge.

Pricing for the 1.3 litre Yaris models remains unchanged, however 1.5 litre models have increased from between $300 and $650, depending on the model.

Wow, good to see, i hope its on the sedan also. The yaris has been crying out for VSA, good to see its standard also. Finally toyota catches up.

If its anything like the VSA in the Kluger it will probably just make the vehicle more dangerous to drive and more likely to just suddenly flip for no apparent reason.

Toyota have no idea how to properly tune an ESP system.
