Comes of no great surprise of the price dropping which is mainly due to the lack of sales, a similar scenario took place with the Brera last year.
As cheap as Alfa-Romeo’s have now become, be prepared for servicing costs that could bankrupt a small country. Alfa stalwarts don’t get into a tizz when they get their servicing bill as they have come to expect Alfa ownership going hand in hand with financial hardship. Those same stalwarts believe that money is a small price to pay for what an Alfa can deliver in looks, performance and outright satisfaction, but to the relative newcomers to Alfa-Romeo, make sure you take a few brave pills when you go to get your clutch replaced as it comes as a large shock… think thousands not hundreds, and clutches being a wear and tear item, warranty won’t come to your rescue.
While I find the entire current range of Alfa-Romeo’s beautiful both in the outward appearance in shape with their curvy and seductive ‘Sophia Loren’ lines and elegant interiors that Alfa-Romeo have long been famous for, and let’s face it, Alfa-Romeo’s ooze style and sophistication even if they do still have baggage from years ago regarding reliability, yet I still can’t convince myself that long term they are a sensible proposition.
It’s only money right?
I know it’s just me, but the 159’s a bloody ordinary looking car. I’m very much looking forward to what’s ahead for Alfa’s models, but in the meantime, I remain unenthused.
I am seduced .. but until i read the comment from Daniel McCoey!! . I think i ve learnt me lesson. I own citroen c4, the most beautiful car 2 years ago. Now it is time to replace it.
My standard question to all the car dealer i have visited are ” How much does it cost to service the ca?r” , ” Can you give me in writing the current service price?”
Oh well, look like its going to be TOYOTA again
The Toyota might be cheaper to service but its unlikely to leave the lasting impression on you that the Alfa does.
Depends I guess on what your priorities are - if cost effectiveness is the goal, then a Toyota is hard to beat, if driving pleasure, style and uniqueness matters more then the Alfa would be the pick - just be prepared to pay more for the experience!
