G'day!

It isn't too often I've had to introduce myself in any more glamorous or professional a fashion than a simple G'day, so I hope you'll all forgive me if this comes off as less than Cover Letter Standard.

My name is Mike, and I suppose I'm the newest addition to the TMR family. With a background in Graphic Design, my first real interest in cars manifested itself as a love for the aesthetics. While I've utilised a bit of trial and error (mostly error) in learning how to drive the things—and despite my passion for performing feats of pure idiocy behind the wheel—the undoubtedly magical means by which the whip-wielding trolls under the bonnet prevail upon the rodents in the wheels to do my bidding... continues to elude me.

What's this got to do with the price of pizza in Peruvia? Simply chums, that all means my posts here at The Motor Report aren't quite going to resemble an onslaught of technical details. I'll be reporting the news as it comes to me, sure. But then I'll be offering up my thoughts on whether it translates into yet another mundane package of lunchbox plastic wrapped in a shell of who gives a shit.

Cars—and my appreciation for them—can be rather easily summed up as follows: If it's Rear-Wheel-Drive and damnably ugly, it's still potentially okay. If it's Front-Wheel-Drive and handsome, it'll still be up against it. FWD and was designed by Toyota in the last 5 years? I'll be creating a whole new category marked "To be Fired Out of a Cannon Mounted on the Back of Rikki Lake". And the grandest of packages: RWD and amazing to look at? Well then we all take a holiday to one of those Spring Break Girls Gone Wild planets.

I'll level with you folks. I don't have a fancy journalism degree, and I don't have half the credentials of most auto writers out there. But I do know what's good for you, and—so bloody help me—you'll know soon enough too.

I'm contractually obligated compelled to say, I'm looking forward to seeing what I can do here. We've got some great ideas in store to really push the limits of what an automotive blog can be. Keep an eye out for some visual changes over the coming weeks as well!

2008, here we come 'ay?
