JUST WHAT IS Audi planning for Frankfurt? Details are scarce, but there are firming reports pointing to an electric version of the company’s popular R8 supercar.

Audi board member Peter Schwarzenbauer was recently quoted saying the German prestige carmaker will unveil a “very, very sporty” electric vehicle at the event.

Today, Audi has launched a mysterious teaser website, complete with a viral video and tidbits of electricity trivia.

The presentation opens by provocatively declaring that electricity “got dumbed down and domesticated,” and that it’s “stuck inside toothbrushes and coffee makers”.

But on September 15, Audi says “electricity, and all its force and power, will run wild and free and completely untamed”.

The first of the viral videos is below. There are other videos on the website, but this is so far the only one filmed specifically for Audi’s campaign.
