Why is it that all of the truly marvellous things in life are over so quickly? The icecream melts, the skydive ends when your feet touch the ground and the long planned for holiday inevitably draws to a close and you find yourself back at work.
Lamborghini have announced the end of production for their Gallardo Superleggera. A lighter weight, more finely honed version of the standard Gallardo, the Superleggera was one of lifes automotive marvels and now it is no longer.
A very brief production run of just 172 units was undertaken. Of those, there were 10 in white, 34 in grey, 37 in black, 45 in yellow and 46 in orange.
Guaranteed collectors status over the coming years, this handful of hot Gallardo’s will continue to garner attention from aficionados on the second hand market. In the meantime, the rest of us, the ‘look but can’t buy’ brigade can be safe in the knowledge that the new LP560-4 is here and whilst we bid farewell to the old Superleggera, its absence paves the way for a lightweight LP560-4…

I feel like a friend just died. I saw this car at the Perth Motor Show just today, and was so happy I felt a tear in the corner of my eye, and now I find out they’re stopping production! This is one of the most awesome cars ever - they’d better not change too much on the LP560-4, and they’d better make a superleggera!!!!!!!
