Holden Cruze Safest Car Under $25,000: ANCAP

EDGING OUT its competitors in a close-fought battle, the 2009 Holden Cruze has been ranked by the Australasian New Car Assessment Program as the safest car under $25,000, with a score of 35.04.

The Ford Focus (34.46) and Fiesta (34.44), Mazda2 (34.33) and Hyundai i30 SLX (32.54) filled out the top five safest cars under $25,000 according to ANCAP's crash test data.

All five vehicles in the top five safest cars under $25,000 earned a 5-Star rating.

NSW Minister for Roads has urged budget-minded buyers in the small to medium car segment to make safety the top priority.

According to ANCAP, the Holden Cruze stood out thanks to its robust passenger compartment, which held its shape "very well" in crash testing.

    Engineering has certainly come along way for safety since we drove mid 80's model Corolla's and Lasers! Grandma has never felt so secure hehehe

    Congrats to all that scored 5 stars.
    Ancap now need to progress to dynamic safety. by testing slalom etc and the relative safety of each vehicles stability control. simply adding a point for DSC,ESc does give a measure of how good or dangerous they can be.

    your right rajman engineering has progressed on a safety level at least. chassis wise though the cruze and corolla for that matter, are still running ye old suspension tech. Focus,Golf & 3 have moved the game on with multilink rear suspension.

    Spot on conquistador. With more and more cars getting 5 stars now, its time to up the ante. Make getting that 5th star dependent on having active safety features that help avoid accidents in the first place

    Umm... The Mitsubishi Lancer got 5 stars and 33.56 points. Pretty sure that should take the Hyundai's spot in the top 5. The lancer also has Active Stability Control as standard.
