Now, TMR doesn’t condone talking on your mobile while driving but folks like Jeremy Clarkson and other celebrities must get fed-up with the wannabes and their mobile phone cameras lurking around what must seem like every corner, looking for a happy snap like the one above.

The DailyMail has just featured this picture of Jeremy allegedly driving at 70mph in his (and this is how they referred to it) “gas-guzzling” 6.3-litre Mercedes.

Yes, Jeremy is now in the cross-hairs of local constabulary and yes, he faces a possible £60 fine and no, the police won’t make an exception for celebrities, which is as it should be.

“At a time when the Government and police are clamping down on motorists putting safety at risk by using mobiles at the wheel, it’s vital that police are seen to be taking action against all alleged offenders, no matter who they are,” said a police insider.

We doubt that Jeremy’s bank balance will be seriously eroded by the possible £60 fine. The avid photographer probably made a small windfall gain and the DailyMail will milk the situation far beyond what is reasonable given the nature of the heinous crime committed.

More importantly, Jeremy’s legion of jealous detractors, (the PC bearded folk?) will feel vindicated if only for a short time.

Personally, we think he has fine taste in classic automobiles.
