INFINITI HAS UNVEILED the 2011 Infiniti M sedan at this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, due to go on sale in North America and Europe from the middle of next year.
Drawing styling inspiration from the Infiniti Essence concept revealed at the Geneva Motor Show this year, the new third-generation Infiniti M carries a flowing profile with a sharp, sculptured character line running along its side.
Infiniti has announced that the rear-wheel-drive sedan will be sold with both V8 and V6 engine options.
The Infiniti M56 will be powered by a 5.6 litreV8 developing over 298kW, and the M37 will draw power from a 245kW 3.7 litre V6.
New driver-assisting technologies are expected to feature in the 2011 Infiniti M range, including a system developed to alert the driver if another vehicle is in the car’s blind spot during a lane change.
Infiniti is expected to release more details about the new M sedan this weekend.
The global financial crisis has delayed Nissan Australia’s efforts to bring the upmarket brand back to this country, but Nissan spokesman Jeff Fisher told TMR that an Infiniti revival remains on the company’s long-term agenda.
“At some time in the future we will launch the Infiniti brand in Australia and, at that time, offer a comprehensive Infiniti product range,” Mr Fisher said.

Nice. I want one
How is that not one of the most beautiful-est automobiles out? The interior! THE INTERIOR!
Nissan, bring this brand to Australia…. !!!!!!
If Lexus can make it in Australia.. why couldnt Infiniti… Nissans current family saloon range is very average.. It would be nice the see something a little more exciting from the manufacturer!
That is one good looking car!! Beautiful from any angle.
It’s great news that Infiniti is planning to launch in Oz. It was only a three months ago that TMR didn’t even bother to ask Nissan PR if it was on the cards!
This car is a winner with its graceful yet muscular lines, diver-assist features and impressive grunt.
Let’s hope the GFC is on its last legs and Infiniti pushes the start button real soon.
Graham B - TMR I believe did ask Nissan if Infiniti and countless of times I’ve read that Nissan will and then won’t bring the brand to Aus…. But this model is beautiful and hope they bring this brand to Aus, as I’d see/think it’ll do very well. And I’d buy one!
I thought Infiniti WAS coming to Aus…but was put on hold due to the GFC…but will in the future.
That said the M56 is one awsome looking machine, easily the equal to any of its German or Japanese competitors.
To Josh, wants wrong with Maxima?, great car for the money!..remember the Infiniti M56 is a Lexus, Audi, BMW, Merc competitor…not a $35K affordable family sedan.
M56 another luxury car that will boost car industry.
