TO MARK THE model’s 15th birthday, Toyota Australia has released the special edition 2009 Toyota RAV4 Edge.
Joining the limited edition Yaris Edge, the RAV4 Edge - based on the RAV4 CV - offers over $2000 of added features for $750.
Features unique to the RAV4 Edge include five 17-inch alloy wheels, reverse-parking sensors, roof rails and privacy glass (tinted, that is) for the rear, rear-quarter and rear door windows.
Inside, Edge edition features include a six-stack CD sound system with LCD display, Bluetooth telephone and audio streaming compatibility, USB audio input, premium steering wheel and gearshift knob, and front and rear carpet mats.
Like the RAV4 CV upon which it’s based, the Edge is powered by a 2.4 litre petrol engine, and is available with either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission.
Safety features include twin front airbags and active front-seat head restraints.
The RAV4 Edge starts at $34,240 (manufacturer’s list price) for the five-speed manual transmission model.
SUVs continue to be strong sellers for Toyota. In 2009, the Japanese carmaker sold 50,000 SUVs in Australia - 14,122 of them being the RAV4.
Overall RAV4 sales, since its introduction in 1994, are expected to top 150,000 in the second half of this year.

“Privacy Glass” is that the new word for tinted-windows?
The RAV4 is such a LONG way from being the class leader, but boy do BIGT[tm.F-0] sell a whole bunch of them, just shows they know more than anybody how to market vehicles!
We are 100% over the SUV’s, going back to a better riding more economical, smoother car, which brand/model = NFI, maybe the new MY10 Lancer or a current Kia Magentis which is unbelieveable money at the moment for what you get, near ~$10k off! [$22k auto, driveaway]
What i really really want is the new Kia Cerato [nee Forte] LPi [NOT LP1 Caradvice, lol] LPG/Hybrid job, needs to be under $30k and confirmed import, Kia are not forcoming with info on that front.
Mail is fuel is heading on north of $1.30/L, big sedans are going to get slammed…. again, mind you i dont want you to think my new sedan is going to save much fuel over a X Trail, just over it as a family trolley.
FrugalOne, and your point is?
Uncle T - I think Frugal One’s point is that he’s had too many sherbets before tapping on the keyboard ….. again ! Leave it alone FO.
Rav4 takes the cake for eating so much cake over the years. Needs to go one a diet. Now probably twice its intro size
