2010 Mitsubishi Challenger Launch Brought Forward To November

IT WAS ONLY last month that Mitsubishi’s next-gen Challenger was reportedly delayed until early 2010, but now Mitsubishi Motors Australia (MMAL) has confirmed the new off-roader will arrive in November this year.

According to MMAL spokesperson Lenore Fletcher, company President and CEO Rob McEniry put in a special request with Mitsubishi head office in Japan for Challenger deliveries to be brought forward, arguing that now is the right time to be selling the model.

“We had originally laid down that it would be launched early next year,” Ms Fletcher told TMR.

“We have basically decided that segment of the medium four-wheel-drive market is actually doing quite well at the moment.

“That section of the market is in a growth period, and we also want to take advantage of the current tax incentives that the Government are offering until the end of the year.”

The 2010 Mitsubishi Challenger will launch in early November, and will sit below the Pajero in Mitsubishi’s local line-up.

Technical details have yet to be revealed, but current speculation places the just-announced 2.5 litre turbodiesel from the 2010 Triton in the Challenger’s engine bay.

Official specifications and pricing will be released closer to the Challenger’s launch.

Its about time we get more cars in this range apposed to the massive vehicles that are currently on the market or useless SUV’s that are being passed off as 4WD’s.

Mitsubishi better hurry up and release the Challenger before the end of the year.

If they do not, they have lost me as a customer/buyer of this vehicle as I will have to switch over to the opposition unwilling to take advantage of the government rebate.

i hope there will be a v6 version unlike triton, otherwise i will switch to oposition!

I am a very loyal Pajero owner (No3) and before that a Challenger.
My biggest grip was head clearence, it was cronic. It had rear leaf springs, not a good ride. Very reliable and strong.
Whats different.

I hope we have a choice of engine size, I’d rather a 3.2, an option of fuel type too, diesel is still too expensive per litre. As a lady driver, (country) it is important Mitsubishi keep the spare tyre under the vehicle for ease of access. Not in the boot or on the back door, too heavy to lift out or off, and if the boot has gear in it, we have to unload to get the tyre out!! My old Challenger has been the best, just keeps on going on. Such a good size.

its not coming until january not happy considering they said november

They need to get the new Challenger out asap as the SWB Pajero R and X models are no longer available.
I see Toyota are bringing out the new Prado in a SWB form
