Once again Holden and HSV have trumped the opposition at the 2008 Melbourne Motor Show. First the covers came off the oft rumoured, much anticipated LS7 7.0-litre powered VE based hard charger. No, its not being called the GTS-R - HSV have dubbed it the W427 and then the Coupe60…more on that next.
HSV are suggesting that this will be the fastest car ever manufactured in Australia - and we believe them! It will be hand built at the rate of one per week and the price is expected to push well past $100,000.
We’ll go into detail later but for now here are the first images.

That is a seriously sick car ! Woo hooo
hate that front end
Its sick
Most Holden bogans couldn’t even afford the chin spoiler.
Unlike the last ‘production’ 427, maybe HSV might actually make this one?
OMG i want this car!!!!!! this is one hot machine!
Missing the point again, the closet the GM performance division

Why aren’t we getting something like this here.
Safe cars and more efficient.
The Pontiac G6 has nothing to do with the Aussie car.

The best part of this car is that you can turn off half the cylinders and maybe only be a meat head half the time.
I’m not a greenie but Holden’s are being sociably irresponsible, whether it can idle on half cylinders or not what about fuel economy when normal driving. So might say it is more fuel efficient than previous oversize motors but just think how much more fuel efficient a 5 litre could be. No one can legally use that much power to it’s full extent not even in the Northern Territory anymore.
That is amazing. The 7.0 litre engine is mad! At times I think my 1.2 is quick, I’d really scare myself if I drove one of them.
Another excellent car
Graham, nobody can legally use the full potential of a Prius either. I guess if we took the attitude with cars that they needed to be fully justifiable from a green and legal use point of view, then we would not have cars like Ferrari or Lamborghini and we’d all be stuck driving the Tata Nano.
While I understand the point you are making, I am grateful that manufacturers want to build cars that are truly special and not just from a green or socially responsible perspective.
The W427 will be a rare sight on our roads, the owners will pay a premium to buy one and they’ll also pay for the fuel they use, so its not really an issue for the rest of us.
Its been said before…but times are changing and this type of car (large capacity V8) will become rarer and rarer - the rising price of fuel will see to that - eventually.
mmmmm that is HOT!
This looks like vomit,,, give me the new Ford FPV anyday…………..
its amaging cars so beautiful looking & graceful very nice i hope this cars more quantity sale & colour good
this is my opinion name is sharan
It looks like an Audi on steroids..not too pretty
Funny thing is the new FPV F6 will probably be as quick for much less money and fuel!! An easy chip mod would see the F6 even blow it away !! How long before they bring out a 10 litre ?? FPV’s 5.4 liter has the same power as HSV 6.2 liter…..
